Here is an overview of how they work:

Your dentist will fit clear, discreet ceramic brackets with precision to your teeth. White coated wires engage the brackets and your teeth begin to straighten right away
You will have the wires changed every few weeks until your teeth are straight. The brackets are then removed and your teeth cleaned and polished.
Your dentist will fit retainers so that your teeth can be kept straight.
Treatment time is usually around 6 months.

Some patients may worry that even the ceramic braces used in short term orthodontics would not fit in with their work or lifestyles. Invisalign is the ultimate in discreet braces that can be removed and replaced by the patient. Clear sleeves or 'Aligners' are worn over the teeth and worn in sequence until the teeth are straight.

An animation or 'Clincheck' is seen beforehand, to show how your teeth will straighten, how your smile will be afterwards and how long treatment will take, depending on how many aligners are needed.
